Meet Courtney & Doug

Every great marriage has a story. We'd be honored to help celebrate yours.

Marriage has been at the center of our lives for decades—not just because we've spent more than twenty years each serving in pastoral ministry, but because we genuinely believe there's something extraordinary about the commitment two people make to one another.

We were married in 2018 outside the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. Since then, life has been full of unexpected adventures, countless laughs, and the joy of building a family together.

We laugh together... a lot.

And while we'd love to tell you the story of how we met, we'll save that one for our first conversation. (Let's just say it started at a game night.)

Since moving to Nashville in 2021, we've had the privilege of walking alongside couples through some of life's most meaningful moments, and we'd be honored to be part of yours.

We hope our experience brings you confidence.

We've each spent more than twenty years serving in pastoral ministry.

Over those years we've had the privilege of helping people navigate weddings, marriage coaching, crisis intervention, funerals, and countless moments that remind us just how significant relationships truly are.

Those experiences have shaped how we approach every ceremony.

We know how to communicate with warmth.

We know how to guide meaningful moments.

We know how to help people feel comfortable.

Most importantly, we know how to tell a story in a way that honors the people living it.

Why we started Union & Story

Every wedding has beautiful details. But underneath those details are two things we believe matter most…

Union & Story

The Union

A wedding is more than two individuals standing together.

It's the beginning of something entirely new.

A marriage creates an "us" unlike any other relationship in life. The union itself becomes something worth protecting, celebrating, and investing in.

That's why we don't simply officiate weddings.

We celebrate the beginning of a marriage.

The Story

No two couples arrive at their wedding the same way.

  • Your personalities.

  • Your experiences.

  • Your families.

  • Your values.

  • The challenges you've overcome.

  • The reasons you've chosen each other.

Those things deserve to be celebrated.

Your ceremony shouldn't feel borrowed from someone else's wedding.

It should feel unmistakably like yours.

That's why every ceremony we create begins with listening.

"We believe every marriage begins with two things: a union worth celebrating and a story worth telling."

Get started with your ceremony

The Greatest Compliment We Receive

There's one sentence we hear over and over again after ceremonies.

"That was EXACTLY what we hoped our ceremony would be."

To us, that's success. Not because the ceremony sounded like us. Because it sounded like you.

What you can expect

Our process is thoughtful without feeling complicated.

We'll take time to get to know you.

We'll write a ceremony specifically for your relationship.

We'll communicate with your planner or coordinator.

We'll prepare thoroughly so your ceremony feels natural and relaxed.

Then, on your wedding day, you can simply enjoy the moment, knowing someone else has already thought through the details.
